My Personal Experience With Niche Websites

I’ve been in affiliate marketing for over a year. When I first started, I read all over the internet that niche sites were the way to make easy money. At the time, I didn’t know the first thing about building web pages, let alone nothing about niche marketing.

I paid somebody to build my first website, which cost me $200. I remember the excitement I had every time I thought about how my website is going to succeed. Once the site was finished, I was left alone to promote my site. I spent just about every waking moment building links, writing articles, adding content to the site. The site wasn’t making any money and took 6 months to gain the #1 position for the targeted keywords.

After about 60 days of promoting the site, I finally made my first dollar! That $1 was the hardest I’ve ever had to work for a dollar. But I remember how happy I was.

In the summer of 2008, I knew it was time to learn how to build my own websites. I did lots of reading and a couple of tutorials on niche marketing. Within a month, I was building my first site. There was a lot of cursing, yelling and stomping my feet at that time, but after 2 weeks, I had my own niche website that was bringing me a dollar a day in less than a month. I did it again and again. My sites were making hundreds of dollars monthly, then thousands of dollars monthly!

Remember that some sites will rank well right off the bat and others will tank. The sites that you think will make you money usually don’t. The sites that you don’t think will make you a cent usually are your best selling sites.

The key is to keep building. If you screw up a niche site, continue building a new one. If your site gets banned by the Google gods, don’t sweat it. Drink a beer and move on!

The biggest key to making money in niche marketing is quantity. Some sites will make 10 cents a day, others will make $10 a day and some will make $100 a day.

Niche Marketing is a numbers game.
